Sage joined the Shelburne Craft School in December 2010 as Executive Director. She has worked as an art educator, gallery owner, adjunct college instructor, painter, and entrepreneur. She received her BFA from Maine College of Art and her MFA from the Institute of Massachusetts College of Art and Design.

Wylie Garica
Education Director and Instructor in Visual Art

Wylie Sofia Garcia received a BA from The University of Chicago and a MFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, MA.  Her work has been exhibited in museums and institutions across the United States. She has been the recipient of a Sustainable Arts Foundation Fellowship, a St. Botolph Club Foundation Fellowship, and two Vermont Arts Council Creation Grants.

Rik Rolla
Clay Studio Manager and Instructor

Rik joined the Shelburne Craft School community in 2004, studying with Loreta Lanquet and Hoyt Berringer. In 2006, he started teaching kids clay classes at Burlington City Arts and became a studio assistant at the Shelburne Craft School. He is now the Craft School’s ceramics studio manager, teaches kids clay on the wheel, adult classes and is the community outreach instructor for our Mobius Mentoring program. He manages the open-studio schedule, studio monitors, kiln fires, and oversees equipment maintenance and supply ordering.

Sarah Ahrens
Outreach and Community Programs Coordinator
Instructor in Visual Art
Sarah Ahrens brings to the Shelburne Craft School twenty years of teaching experience and a genuine passion in reaching all types of learners through the power and magic inherent in the Arts. Sarah is predominantly a painter, whose current work involves pulling prints from a layered clay surface built up with homemade pastels and soy-based pigments and embedded with quirky found objects. She has come to believe that her art making and art teaching inform and inspire one another and that fostering a love for the Arts in our young people is crucial for sustaining a vibrant and connected community.

 

 

 

Mikayla Dennison
Studio Assistant and Instructor

Mikayla holds her BA in art and expressive arts  from Burlington College. Mikayla joined the team at Shelburne Craft School in 2014.  Mikayla teaches many of the after school art classes and summer camps as well as manages the Saturday Drop-In.

Ryan Cocina
Wood shop Assistant and Instructor
Ryan Cocina received his training at the Vermont Woodworking school under Bob Fletcher. He is also a graduate of the Johnson State College Masters of Education program.  Ryan is a skilled craftsman with great attention to detail who uses traditional techniques to create one-of-a-kind furniture to last for generations.
