We here at the Shelburne Craft School know parents are busy, school schedules are ever-changing, and children from a far would like to take craft classes.  To accommodate these issues we have made some adjustments.  Classes will now start at 3:30pm and go until 5:30pm.  Students are welcome to arrive between 3:00-3:30pm.  This time can be used for eating snacks, playing outdoors (weather permitting).  At 3:30pm the classes will start and end at 5:30pm.  Let’s get crafty!

FREE TIME: 3:00-3:30 Snack time in the common room, please bring a nut free snack and drink.

AFTER SCHOOL: Crafting in Clay Ages 6+
Instructor:  Mikayla Dennison
Members: $175, Non-Members: $192
Explore hand building with clay and learn techniques like pinching, coiling, scratch and attach, and more! Students will design, plan and build their own unique projects each week and will create fun, functional and whimsical objects in clay that will be around for years to come!

AFTER SCHOOL: Mosaic, ages 8+
Instructor: Mikayla Dennison
Members: $175 Non-Members: $192
Create colorful works of art in glass, tiles and stoneware. Learn about this timeless craft and how to design a project inspired by color, nature, and composition. Each student will design their own project and will bring home a unique work of art that will inspire and last for years to come.

AFTER SCHOOL: Clay Wheel Ages 10+
Instructor: Rik Rolla
Members: $226, Non-Members: $248
Learn the essentials of working on the potter’s wheel, from centering, forming, pulling, and trimming. Also, explore hand building and the art of making a functional or whimsical sculptural object with coiling, slab building, and pinch pots. Students create a variety of pieces such as bowls, mugs, pitchers, plates, and vases while they further develop basic clay skills.

Early Release AFTER SCHOOL: Metals, ages 10+
Instructor: Sarah Sprague
Members: $226, Non-Members: $248
Students will learn basic metal-smithing skills, using torch and hammer to shape, drill, saw, and polish bronze, copper, and nickel silver sheet metal. Students will use wire to make chains and clasps, and embellish their creations with leather cord and beads.

AFTER SCHOOL: Woodshop ages 10+
Instructor: Rob Palmer

Students will learn basic of woodworking. You will get to be in a real wood shop, surrounded by professional woodworking tools. This is a great hands-on class, to explore the variety of woodworking techniques safely and with guided instruction.

Art and Craft Sampler for EARLY RELEASE Shelburne Community School

Every month we will learn about famous artists, crafters and inventors. Then we will explore a wide range of arts and crafts media to make works of art that reflect various techniques.  Try painting, clay, mosaic, cartooning, wood sculptures and so much more. You will learn about different materials, processes, color, design and have fun in this hands-on class.

All classes must be paid in full, one week before the beginning of class. Refunds are given one week prior to class, 20% is non-refundable. No refunds will be given for missed classes during a session. We cannot prorate the cost of a class for classes missed. For workshops, you must cancel one week prior to class for a refund (minus the 20%). A full refund however will be given if we cancel a class due to low enrollment.

Winter Cancellation Policy: We follow the Shelburne Community School closing for adult day and after school classes, and office closing  CLICK HERE for up-to-date info.  If you are enrolled in an evening adult class or weekend workshop your instructor or a staff member will be in touch.  We will also post on our Facebook page.
